Walk Worthy Of Your Calling

walkworthy“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” said Apostle Paul. Indeed, we are a new spiritual person in Christ with every spiritual blessings showered upon us. We are called for a purpose far more meaningful than we could ever imagine with our mind. Are you walking everyday in light of your calling?

17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of[d] the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. – Ephesians 4:17-24

Human mind: Our mind plays a vital part in spiritual journey and it is renewed when we are in Christ. We are given the capacity to think differently than the thoughts of natural human mind in relation to God. We live in a world where human mind is celebrated across all areas of life. It is so powerful but without Christ it does not give any value for eternity. It can know a lot of important things of this world but cannot grasp the things of God. It is darkened in the understanding of God because we are alienated from the very life of God due to sin. Sin hardened our heart making us repel away from God. Without Christ, we live in the futility of human thoughts focusing on the temporary things of this world.

In Christ: Christ broke the bondage of sin from our life. We are made to be a new creation who can know God and live in a personal relationship with him. In previous chapters, Paul talked about the wonderful things God has done for us in our personal life as well as with relation to others in the Church of God. He chose us before the foundation of the earth, redeemed us from the bondage of sin, made us his children, sealed us with his holy spirit and placed us as a member of his body. What an amazing blessing to be able to connect to God and his children functioning to fulfill his purpose!

Renewed mind: Are we living everyday with a renewed mind realizing these truths? Paul wrote this letter to Ephesian church who were in Christ but he asked them not to walk in old ways. When we walk in this world, many times we get mixed with the priorities of this world and of God. Think about a typical day from your life, Are you walking in light of God’s truth or based on worldly thinking?

We are living in times when it has become a norm to live certain way of life to fit into society. Are we compromising and yielding to the thinking of of human mind? you see, world system offers to fulfill lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life. It can be divisive and made to look normal and a way of life. Scripture says we cannot serve two masters, we cannot love both the things of this world and of God. Do we have same value, goal, motive, priority?

We cannot be the light Lord wants us to be if we compromise. If we are in Christ, we are called to be a new person who recognizes this truth each and every day to live a victorious life. Yes, we are not perfect but we have power in Christ to overcome. If we submit to him and ask, God will strengthen our inner man with power through his spirit and renew our mind with his word to focus on Christ and on our calling without conforming to the world. Let us ask ourselves if we are really walking according to our calling in Christ?

  1. We are to aim to be Perfected in Love Peter and to put our Carnal flesh to death, we might as well reject all Scripture if we reject these guidelines from God as confirmed in these Scriptures and those below, (Romans 8 :12-15- Romans 6 – Colossians 3:4-6 -Galatians 5:24-26) If Christ is in us we have God’s seed and no longer sin 1John 3:9 but until we are Born again, we are known by God as His from eternity because of our heart repentance which shows we believe in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour He is our Advocate when we repent and this is why Paul was instructing those in the Church to choose to walk in Holiness not sin, when we reject sin we are empowered to do so and our Carnal flesh is put to death and than being Perfected in Love we walk as Jesus does because He is within us. We are to seek ask and receive not sit back and wait for it to happen as some claim. Matthew 7:7-8

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto Perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God.

1John 4:16-19 And we have known and believed the Love that God hath to us. God is Love; and he that dwelleth in Love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our Love made Perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but Perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.

Galatians 2: 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who Loved me, and gave Himself for me.(KJV)

Galatians 24 -26 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting Holiness in the fear of God.

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

James 1:5-6 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Luke 11:13 how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?

Colossians 2:2-3 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in Love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

    • Well said Anne, we are called to be perfected in his love putting behind the things of the world. Holy spirit will guide us in all wisdom to walk in his light. Thanks for the comment!

How are you and Ron? I haven’t been checking regularly lately. I will stop by your site for recent updates. Have a wonderful day!

      • Thanks Peter for caring, Ron is often fatigued now with having Chemo for the Cancer but the pain is less, he doesn’t complain but I know it is hard for him, he has always been very active.

I’m still rejoicing about my Lupus disappearing, Praise God! and thank you Peter again for your Prayers for both of us.
