Praying For Clarity In Life

prayerclarityDo you have clarity in life? Let us face it, many of us get overwhelmed with uncertainty about future and lot of questions linger in our minds. Our focus gets shifted to the immediate problems and we feel being taken over by the circumstances in life. How can we see clearly in the midst of all that is happening around us? What gives such clarity in life? Let us ponder on these questions in this post.

15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. – Ephesians 1:15-21

We get clarity about future when we have a clear sense of purpose in life. We are created by God and he knows all about the purpose of our life. We can get clarity of purpose in life when we know God who is the ultimate author of our life. Have you used a voice navigation like GPS while driving? If you have a good quality GPS, you can just type in the destination address and rest assured that it will get you there. Even though it takes you through all the twists and turns, you don’t have to worry at each turn. The GPS knows the plan on how to reach your destination and we have to worry only if we have a faulty or outdated GPS. Think about this, God created us and he is directing our life. If we really don’t know our creator, we will be living with a blurred vision based on current circumstances in life. We cannot see through the circumstances and uncertainty fills our life at every turn.

Many of us know something about God and satisfied with what we know, but having the knowledge of God is much more than just knowing about God. It comes with a personal relationship through Jesus Christ. When we trust in Jesus, we are getting into relationship to know God. Just as our human relationships, we get to know him more and more as we grow in Christ. In the above text from Ephesians 1, apostle Paul prayed for the church in Ephesians that they will get wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God. This real knowledge of God will give us the clarity and purpose in life.

When we grow in the knowledge of God, we can see things clearly. Paul prayed that holy spirit gives insight and clear understanding about God. This needs to be our prayer too. God has given his word and holy spirit will reveal to us all that we need to know about God (1 John 2:27). When we read bible, are we praying for holy spirit’s revelation? When was the last time bible came alive to you? We are living in times when many are trying to interpret the word of God with human understanding. No wonder we are hearing all kinds of teachings and different version of Jesus than in the bible. Don’t we need to pray and ask to know God just as apostle Paul prayed for the church?

God has showered us with all blessings(Count your blessings) which testify his plan for our life, but many times our eyes are not open to this realization. We live without enjoying them in times of need. He chose us before the creation of the earth and given us the blessed hope of our future(What is your hope?). He saved us from eternal death and gave us eternal life through Jesus Christ. We have holy spirit as a seal for our future inheritance and also marking us as his possession. We belong to God and we are adopted as his Children. We have all these blessings for the glory of God which gives us the purpose in life. Are we living like we belong to God?

By knowing God, we can realize the power working in our lives by making us a new creation in Christ. It is the power of God which resurrected Jesus and seated him in the heaven. What a blessing to know such a power working in us! Do we have to fear about the circumstances, problems and temptations when we have this mighty power? Do we have the sense of this amazing works of God from eternity past to eternity future? We are not living by chance, we are the children of God called to live according to the will of God to glorify him.

Unless we get this revelation from holy spirit, we will be short sighted and miss to realize the overall plan. Scripture says if we ask God according to his will, he will grant our prayers(1 John 5:14-15). It is his will that we know him. It is his will that we pray to him to receive the wisdom and revelation through holy spirit. It is his will that we live to glorify him. If we pray earnestly (praying with confidence), God will answer us in giving abundance of his wisdom. Holy spirit will teach us from the word in all things that we need to know him which will enlighten our eyes to live a life with clarity and purpose.

  1. That was a soul enriching message Peter with much Truth and it was how God gave me understanding of His Truth, without His wisdom and the empowering of The Holy Spirit, we will remain in the dark.

Jesus said Seek, Ask, and Knock, are we wanting earthly Treasure or Eternal Treasure, where ever our focus is so will be our heart.

The Scriptures below Peter confirms your message about The Holy Spirit empowering us as Jesus Teaches us all things.

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that Love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth but which the Holy Ghost teacheth, comparing spiritual things with Spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are Spiritually discerned. But he that is Spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the Mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him? but we have the Mind of Christ.

1 John 2:26-28 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is Truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops (KJV) (perhaps our Computers ?)

John 16:13 -15. Howbeit when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for He shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that He shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

    • Absolutely Anne. It is the wisdom of God enlightens our understanding. As you shared, we have many confirmation in the scripture to seek his wisdom but many are leaning on our wisdom causing all confusions.
Thanks for your encouraging comment Anne. Have a blessed day!
